| 11: Background information | The Institution was founded in 1839. It employs a Librarian, a Members' Secretary and an Office Manager and is supported by many voluntary workers. There is a study room, an archive search room, a lecture hall seating 100 and a members' room. |
| 12: Collections | A library of 25,000 volumes includes recent books, a children's and a reference section. The archives and library house collections relating to London local history and to famous local residents such as Samuel Taylor Coleridge and John Betjeman. |
| 13: Building | Grade II listed building in the centre of the village, part of which pre-dates the HLSI's foundation. |
