| 11: Background information | The Linen Hall Library was established in 1788 as the Belfast Reading Society, and moved in 1802 to the White Linen Hall. |
| 12: Collections | The Library contains about 200,000 books and is best known for its Irish and local studies collection including the Northern Ireland political collection, the definitive archive of the recent troubles comprising about 250,000 items. Other important holdings include collections relating to genealogy, heraldry and Robert Burns. The Library also has a substantial general stock. |
| 13: Building | Housed in listed former linen warehouse built in 1865 and acquired in 1896; located in Belfast city centre. Extension opened September 2000. |
