6: Hours Library is staffed by volunteers, February - Christmas, Tuesday - Friday 1000-1300, and 1st Sunday of the month 1400-1600 (except January)
7: Membership details Society has 700-800 members, who have automatic access and borrowing privileges to part of the collection anytime that the museum is open (Tuesday-Sunday 0930-1630)

11: Background information The Society acquired books for its members and to support the work of the curators soon after 1823. We are the fortunate recipient of small and large donations of books and archives. We purchased the stock of the Whitby Subscription Library, the collection of former Librarian Percy Burnett amongst others.
12: Collections Subjects cover history, including maritime, archaeology, people and buildings, geology, industry, agriculture specific to Whitby and surrounding area. Approx. 10,000 items, inc. books, journals, muster rolls, ships' log-books, ledgers, deeds, wills, notes and diaries, maps and photographs.
13: Building 1950 built Kendall Room, addition to 1930's museum
14: Status Society has charitable status, voluntary run, private library and museum.
